Peace of Mind Dog Rescue

For the month of March, our Walkabenefits partner is Peace of Mind Dog Rescue! Since 2009, this amazing organization has worked tirelessly to help seniors, both human and furry, to live comfortable and happy lives in their fur-ever homes. "Our mission is to be a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on California’s Central Coast. We focus on helping dogs and people from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties.
We find loving homes for dogs whose guardians can no longer care for them and for senior dogs in shelters. We also provide volunteer and financial assistance so seniors can keep their pets with them as long as possible. In addition, we make pre-arrangements to take in dogs should their guardians become unable to care for them."

As a reminder, Walkabout promises to donate $1 for every order made during March, as well as 100% of customer tip donations, to Peace of Mind Dog Rescue. If you are interested in helping directly, you can sign up to donate or volunteer at these links.

Shaggie is a little sweetheart who loves to go for walks, hang with his person, and play with other dogs. In the house, he is the perfect gentleman -- calm, mellow and quiet. He can be left alone while you are out, napping while you are gone. He is fine with cats and would likely be fine with children old enough to be gentle with a small pup. He would likely thrive in a home with another dog as he is just so excited to greet other dogs! He would do well with another confident dog around. He rides well in a car and is most comfortable while harnessed in. Shaggie isn't interested in toys but he really loves walking with his people. Shaggie is not the biggest fan of baths, but who is?

Shaggie absolutely loves his meals and treats! However, he is missing his lower jaw, so his food and treats must be very soft, and his mealtime should be supervised. He's a great eater but just a bit of a messy eater. Shaggie is hard of hearing. He responds to loud noises but doesn't hear much else.

Shaggie was a stray and joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Despite the tough life he appears to have had before being found, he has emerged as a sweet, gentle and playful boy.
Welsh Springer Spaniel

Barnaby is a special guy in search of a very special adopter. Someone willing to be his eyes and ears when out in the great big world and his snuggle buddy at home. Barnaby is deaf and blind, but he doesn't let that slow him down even a little bit. Nor does it slow down his tail, which is always wagging! He's a unique spirit with a great attitude that's contagious.

Once he's gotten a feel for his surroundings, this handsome, smart boy is able to navigate his home quite well. He uses his nose and cues from you when on walks and gets random bursts of energy at the end of the leash that will put a smile on your face. When he needs to go outside, he'll make tiny noises letting you know. He's a great communicator and a sweet companion.

Barnaby is excited to meet people and friendly as can be. He loves his treats and will raise a sweet paw of request when he smells the goodie bag come out. We think he'll adapt well to any loving household, especially if he's your one-and-only dog and can keep all your attention for himself. Oh, and as long as he has plenty of time for naps!

Barnaby came to us because his guardian was ill and unable to continue caring for him.
